This CPD gives an overview of pitched roof design considerations and regulations in the UK and Ireland, along with discussing the type of construction membranes used as pitched roof underlays and the effect their performance has on design. Type C, cavity drain waterproofing systems are considered to be the most highly recommended, reliable and risk-free type of waterproofing where an internal environment must be 100% dry. Where it is accepted that water could enter a building, Type C systems work differently from Types A and B in that, instead of holding back water pressure, they depressurise and manage the water away from the structure. This CPD provides insights into how these systems have evolved and developed over the years, how the significant 2022 update to the British Standard for waterproofing has affected the design of Type C systems, and the importance of factors such as maintainability and sustainability.

This CPD looks specifically at framed construction and other MMC solutions and what you need from a render system for it to deliver the required performance. The CPD will provide the attendee with guidance on the key changes between Part L 2013 and Part L 2021 edition as an interim step before the Future Buildings Standard in 2025. This is an update from our previous RIBA approved Part L CPD which was based on 2013 edition but covers the considerations around methodology and compliance covering National Calculation methodology, SBEM and the Notional building. A seamless acoustic ceiling is a much different proposition to a traditional modular acoustic ceiling. It is smooth. It is discreet. It can be shaped into something unbelievably creative or used in an historic building and no-one will notice. But it provides Class A sound absorption. We will show you how it works and how to deal with the practicalities of dealing with things like in-ceiling AV equipment, how to access services and how it transitions into a plasterboard ceiling. When considered early in a project, products for controlling heat, light, glare and privacy, can be incorporated into the most challenging window situations giving better results.
