Sustainable architecture

The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the RIBA core curriculum topic ‘Sustainable architecture’, which covers the legal and regulatory basis (including primary and secondary legislation) and principles of climate change mitigation and adaptation. It also covers low carbon and low energy design, over the life of a building, with effective client briefing and management.
Provides an overview of the new Part L 2021 edition and the proposed Future Homes Standard performance requirements, as well as an introduction to the RIBA Climate Challenge 2030 and its target criteria, including embodied carbon. Other topics include the process and conventions involved in a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and what an EPD is and its role in calculating embodied carbon.

The company has a 20-plus-year history of working in partnership with construction professionals to close the gap between design and as-built performance. It was the first company in the UK and Ireland to be assessed and certified under the NSAI and BRE thermal modeling competency scheme.

Includes practical guidance on how raised floors can contribute to Green Building, the fundamentals of different Green Building certificates, and the documentation and information required to achieve certifications.

A presentation aimed at anyone interested in an environmentally-focused specification of rainscreen cladding systems. Explores the principles of sustainability in construction by examining B-Corp (Certified B Corporations) and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and their importance in relation to the use of aluminium.
