It’s a legal requirement for buildings to be designed in such a way as to prevent fire from spreading from one structure to another. With fire safety in residential buildings rightly the focus of greater attention following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, this seminar offers practical, up-to-date guidance on designing and specifying building materials for use in inverted flat roofs. It includes information on: Approved Document B and how it applies to inverted flat roofs; the B Roof (t4) classification and testing regime; the impact of EC Decision 2000/553/EC on testing requirements; the importance of selecting appropriate insulation materials; and, how fire regulations apply to inverted roofs and how this impacts on the specification of insulation materials.

This seminar discusses how to specify natural slate correctly and highlights some of the pitfalls of natural slate specification. Includes advice on the environmental benefits of choosing natural slate over other genres of roofing products, as well as case study examples where natural slate has been used to solve complex design problems.
