The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the RIBA Core Curriculum topic ‘Places, planning and communities’. This covers the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks for creating successful urban and rural places, and the relevant planning processes and procedures.
An introduction to the Party Wall Act, including what it is, where it applies, what the different party wall notices are (and when must they be served), the role of surveyors in the party wall process, key documents and timescales. Also includes tips on ‘suitable’ and ‘non-suitable’ construction detailing, and what architects can do to minimise party wall fees and process delays.
