This workshop aims to develop a greater understanding of the key principles of ‘dementia friendly’ design as one of a set of non-pharmacological interventions for people with dementia. It also recognises that knowledge of the built environment, or about practice alone, cannot deliver optimum outcomes for people living with dementia.

For over 25 years the Dementia Services Development Centre’s multi-disciplinary team of clinical specialists, architects and designers has been promoting the importance of design for people with dementia. It has developed a unique insight into what can be done to support people, based on research and evidence of what makes a difference.

Approximate duration excluding time for questions/answers: two days.
