A seminar about the importance of colour and luminance contrast when designing inclusive environments. Colour and contrast help people – especially those with visual impairments – to navigate more easily. This presentation explores the research that helped shape Approved Document Part M2, alongside other environmental factors such as lighting and surface finish. It also covers: how the visually impaired navigate spaces, how to identify the light reflectance values of surfaces, and how to select colours to create adequate contrast, as laid out in the guidelines.
