Conservation Awareness on Site
New

During our work in the commercial sector, in a number of historic buildings over the past 12 years, we have witnessed numerous examples of bad practice by contractors that do not respect the significance of the space and fail to implement simple measures that protect the building fabric and historic surfaces. This may be the building masonry itself, monuments, painted or gilded surfaces, glazing or mural paintings. In some cases, this has resulted in irreparable damage and in others necessitated costly repair. This seminar is designed to raise awareness within the profession and other related disciplines that poor practice is relatively common and there are standards in place designed to mitigate harm.
