RIBA CPD Showcase

Sustainable architecture

The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the ‘Sustainable architecture’ RIBA Core Curriculum topic (and may also fall within other core curriculum topics too). Chartered members are obliged to undertake a minimum of 20 of their annual 35 hours CPD from this curriculum, including at least two hours of CPD from each of the ten key topics. Many seminars are now available online using Zoom, GoToMeeting, and Microsoft Teams etc. This is not always shown here so, if a seminar is of interest to you, do click on the link and check.
Buildings today demand reliable, energy-efficient building envelopes that provide superior performance benefits to minimize energy costs, reduce carbon emissions, and maximize property value. This seminar offer an introduction to insulated concrete formwork (ICFs) – a means of delivering those benefits. It covers building applications, code approvals and installation methods.

Nudura structures offer superior strength, resilience, sound insulation and fire resistance. So designers, developers and contractors across the world continue to choose Nudura integrated building technology as a proven alternative to traditional building methods. Nudura’s insulated concrete forms provide construction professionals with the freedom and versatility to design and build a structure the way it was envisioned. Building with Nudura gives them the opportunity to build faster and more efficiently, while providing an eco-friendly structure with substantial benefits that contribute to long-term energy savings.

Duration, excluding Q&A: one hour

Provides an overview of energy efficient solutions using suspended heated and chilled ceilings. Includes information and guidance on the basics of heated and chilled ceilings, the functionality and benefits of heated and chilled ceilings and chilled beams, design factors that may facilitate future modification, the requirements of two- and four-pipe systems and where they should be used, how heated and chilled ceilings can be used in combination with other systems, and the efficient operation of heated and chilled ceilings and how to reduce lifecycle costs.

Founded more than 50 years ago, the Lindner Group is a leading player in the building envelope, interior fit-out and insulation sectors. Lindner advises, develops, produces and implements products and projects from single-trade jobs to turnkey solutions on new builds and renovations.
Seminar, by Waverley
Offers an insight into how correct solar shading can improve the environmental credentials of buildings by examining solutions to the three conflicting issues of glare, heat and visibility and the role of control systems in solar shading. Also covers the important role that solar shading systems play in providing productive working environments, especially in commercial and education buildings, the functional, environmental and economic benefits of metallised fabrics, and what type of solar shading to specify to achieve best results.
