Procurement and contracts

The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the RIBA core curriculum topic ‘Procurement and contracts’, which covers understanding the legal and regulatory basis of the procurement system. It also covers having the knowledge and skills to negotiate consultant procurement and win work, and to ensure you have the right building or professional services contract or agreement in place for a project.
Factory Visit, by Altro
This tour of a manufacturing plant and laboratories focusses on how safety flooring is manufactured, and how new products are developed, as well offering guidance on the different types of safety flooring to suit specific applications, measuring slip resistance, and cleaning and maintenance. The tour takes place in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, and includes a buffet lunch.

This tour is generally by invitation only, but applications from interested architects will always be considered. Seminar, by Russell-Cooke LLP
A discussion on the rights of designers, including an introduction to intellectual property rights and how they are created and protected. Other topics covered include sources of obligations, copyright, what works are protected, what rights exist, who owns them, what acts will infringe, defences, licences, BIM, remedies and how to avoid disputes.
