Bio-Based Synthetics and Their Place in Our Future

In this seminar, I will explore the rise of synthetic fabrics in the twentieth century and those in particular that are currently being manufactured on a large commercial scale.

As we grow increasingly aware of the limited natural resources available, there is a growing urgency to replace those synthetic textiles with more sustainable alternatives.

What those alternatives are will be examined in this seminar. Biosynthetics and their various feedstocks will be examined. This will help determine which synthetics truly have a place in the future and whether they can replace the conventional synthetics in large-scale production today.
