Description

In this CPD, we’ll explore how the regulatory landscape shapes bathroom and washroom design, focusing on three key themes:

  1. Designing for people
  2. Designing for safe water
  3. Designing for tomorrow.

We’ll cover accessibility and inclusive design, including the relationship between Approved Documents M and T; water safety and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations; and the growing influence of sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM. We’ll also consider how expectations around whole-life performance, evidence and operational performance may shape specifications in the future.

By the end of the session you should have a greater understanding of:

  • How the regulatory framework surrounding bathroom and washroom design is structured.
  • Some of the key ways regulations, standards and sustainability frameworks influence design and specification decisions.
  • The questions to ask, and the information and expertise to look for, to support compliant bathroom and washroom design.
