EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a very durable synthetic rubber membrane and is widely used worldwide in a number of different applications on façade walls. It has very stable properties such as vapour, air and watertightness along with elongation of >400% allowing it to accommodate building differential movements.
In addition to that, EPDM is an environmentally friendly material. When installed correctly it has a life expectancy of over 50 years. This durability reduces the construction needs and consequently the disposal quantities to the environment. EPDM sheets can be recycled after used for a number of different things such as rubber mats used in children’s playgrounds and car tires. Not only is it the healthiest option for the planet, but it’s also the best financial choice. Long lifespan, durability and efficiency means that replacement costs are far less than the alternatives available.
In addition to the advantages listed above, it is important to note that, when exposed to the influence of temperature, UV radiation, and other weather conditions, EPDM does not release toxic substances to the environment.
