Following the Coronavirus outbreak public awareness of the need to wash hands to prevent the spread of infection has increased. This presentation covers the history of public health engineering and how problems in history were solved. It touches on personal hygiene and habits and considers the needs of washroom design in the future. It also offers guidance on those building regulations applicable to public health engineering, use of BIM, and the potential consequences of poor design and engineering.
