The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the ‘Design, construction and technology’ RIBA Core Curriculum topic. All have been created by members of the RIBA CPD Providers Network, a group of construction industry manufacturers committed to sharing their knowledge and best practice. Seminar, by Brett Landscaping
Discusses the principles behind bound and unbound paving construction for concrete, stone and porcelain paving, including their respective benefits, installation and detailing guidelines, and relevant British standards.

Seminar, by Marmox (UK) Ltd
A comprehensive guide to internal and external boards as substrates and those factors that can damage ceramic and natural stone tiles when fixed to various substrates. Includes advice on the advantages and disadvantages of tiling on different substrates, the creation of shower floors, the installation of foam cored boards and how they can also be used for heat insulation and impact sound reduction, and relevant standards.

Marmox (UK) is part of the CMB group, which manufactures construction chemicals and specialist building products and is one of the world’s leading producers of XPS insulation. The extensive Marmox range includes products that reduce or eliminate the cold bridge typically found at floor junctions with masonry or timber framed walls, tile backer boards, and a range of sloped, floor-level shower bases complete with drainage, for use in tiled wetrooms and shower areas.

High performance coated fabrics are an increasingly popular option in contract interiors, with polyurethane fabrics one of several alternatives available. This seminar addresses how to successfully specify polyurethane fabrics for commercial interiors. It covers the history of polyurethane; how it’s manufactured and the breadth of surface design options available, performance characteristics, cleaning and maintenance, and how polyurethane fabric can contribute to achieving more sustainable interiors.

Seminar, by Bona Limited
Discusses the performance and aesthetic properties of different types of wooden floor finish and how they should be specified to best meet your project requirements. Also looks at the importance of correct preparation and application, as well as how to design-in preventative maintenance measures and ongoing maintenance regimes to extend the time between refinishing.

Bona is a Swedish manufacturer of high performance finishes and maintenance products for commercial and domestic wood flooring. Its range includes lacquers, oils (including hard wax oils) and specialist wood floor adhesives. Bona also supplies a recoating system for resilient floors, systems to renovate sports floors, plus abrasives, sanding machines and a dust-free sanding system. All Bona's formulations are certified as low emission and are designed to be clean, safe and have minimal impact on the environment.
