Seminar
Best Practice in Accessible Bathroom Design (2023).
The objective of our CPD seminar is to increase understanding in how people use accessible facilities. Are Part M packs suitable in every instance? The simple answer is no, alternative arrangements will be necessary for Changing Places facilities, school hygiene rooms and more generally where there is a reasonable expectation that users will be assisted by carers.

Our talk examines access and spatial requirements for using the toilet, basin and shower individually, and as integrated functions within a well thought out room design.

By the end of this CPD delegates should:

1. Better appreciate the user experience in accessible bathrooms.
2. Be able to distinguish between layouts and solutions suitable for independent and dependent bathroom users.
3. Be able to make small but effective improvements to the minimum requirements prescribed in Part M.
4. Understand how to make small but effective improvements to the minimum requirements prescribed in Part M.
5. Be able to design bathroom solutions for people with profound disabilities and complex needs.
