Marmox (UK) Ltd

Marmox (UK) Ltd is an integral part of the CMB group, which was founded in the 1970s and now manufactures innovative building products and specialist insulation materials for the construction and refurbishment industries across the world. Products include: MARMOX MULTIBOARD– a BBA certified insulating and waterproof TILE BACKER BOARD. Used on floors and walls to provide increased tile adhesion and decoupling. Multiboards are CE marked and Energy Saving Trust approved as internal wall insulation boards providing a space efficient alternative to laminated plasterboard. Marmox Showerlay/Showerstone – Sloped bases for WETROOM FLOORS ready for tiling. Marmox Soundboard – Waterproof, thermally insulating, IMPACT SOUND INSULATION BOARD. Designed to stop the sound of footfall on a tiled floor being a nuisance to those in the rooms below. MARMOX THERMOBLOCK – a BBA certified insulation unit to ELIMINATE THERMAL BRIDGING at the wall floor junction of new-builds, reducing the y value and helping to meet the emissions rate target in SAP. They are typically used at the base of a masonry or timber-framed supporting wall and are approved products in the BRE’s ‘Certified Thermal Products and Details Scheme.’

Reducing Thermal Bridging in Floor/Wall Junction Designs
This seminar examines:

- Why recent changes to the building regulations have made heat loss through the wall/floor thermal bridge junction more important.
- What y-values and psi-values are and how they are used in SAP and Passivhaus calculations.
- How adopting the different design options for reducing the thermal bridge (i.e. accredited construction details, enhanced construction details or using a thermal bridging block) affect the overall heat loss and compliance to the standards.
- The implications of the proposed future changes and possible introduction of ‘zero carbon’ to the building regulations.

Building Boards for Damage Free Tiling and Construction
This seminar focuses on the factors that damage ceramic and natural stone tiles when fixed to modern building boards. It will look at the advantages and disadvantages of modern building boards, the creation of shower floors, the installation of foam cored building boards and how building boards can be used for heat insulation and impact sound reduction. It will help you to understand the following topics:
- Understand why ceramic and natural stone tiles become damaged when fixed to modern building boards
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of modern building boards
- Understand and appreciate the differences between expanded and extruded polystyrene foam cored building boards, why movement joints are required and where they should be located
- Have an overview of British Standard BS5385 in relation to the fixing of ceramic and natural stone tiles to board and sheet materials, wall and floor installations
- Understand how shower floors can be created and appreciate the benefits of pre formed shower floors
- Understand how foam cored building boards can provide heat insulation and impact sound reduction
