Membrane systems have long been used in framed constructions to:
1. Improve building longevity by protecting the frame from the harmful effects of uncontrolled moisture
2. Improve thermal perormance by reducing air leakage
This CPD deals with the nuances of these systems when incorporated into high risk buildings

The presentation considers regulatory framework (Parts B, C and L), system performance and how these systems are incorporated into designs and then built.

In addition to considering the present, the presentation also considers the past history of these systems and the role of manufacturers in collaboration for a better and safer future.

By the end of the CPD, delegates ought to:

1. Understand the primary functionality of vapour permeable and AVCL type membranes.
2. Understand the regulatory framework surrounding these systems.
3. Understand the installation of these systems, especially nuances added by the amendments to Part B in recent years.
