Built-up steel cladding systems provide a modern, sustainable solution for the building envelope of many buildings. This CPD introduces these systems and the results which can be achieved with them. The CPD provides a background to assessing the sustainability of building components, then shows how built-up steel cladding systems meet the various criteria of sustainability. There is an emphasis on the contribution that these building envelope solutions can make to reducing the whole-life impact of construction, including not only emboided impacts, but the in-use phase and the practicalities of dealing with construction materials at end-of-life.
