Individual mail and parcel boxes - future-proof your development
Examines how, why and where individual mail and parcel boxes can add value to new-build housing developments.
Mail and parcel boxes not only better serve the way we live, but also the way we want to live: taking into account busy schedules, personal security, environmental concerns, and our ongoing desire to maximise value for money. Set against that backdrop, is a narrow letter flap – effectively a hole cut into our front door – really the most effective way of receiving deliveries?
Individual mail and parcel boxes offer housing developers a long list of benefits, from additional revenue streams to Secured by Design grants, and from reduced air leakage to greater curb appeal. Above all however, they offer developer and house buyer one clear advantage – convenience.
This online seminar is a practical guide to mail and parcel boxes now and in the future, packed with useful information and examples.

Learning outcomes
- Why individual mail and parcel boxes are more popular than ever among residential housing developers
- How to choose the right mail and/or parcel box for your housing development
- How to work with the mailbox 'palette', including materials, placement, colours and finish
- Relevant UK guidelines, standards and regulations
- The future of mail and parcel delivery

Bespoke mailboxes - make an entrance
An inspirational look at bespoke mail and parcel boxes in multi-occupancy dwellings.
For practical reasons, mailboxes are often installed where everyone can see them. This seminar offers guidance on how to convert them into a feature or focal point. It encourages the designer to treat them as a canvas, using the huge range of materials, configurations, colours and finishes available as a palette. It introduces the concept of modular mail and parcel box units and includes practical advice on how to specify the most appropriate mailbox and/or parcel box for your project. Naturally, all examples are lavishly illustrated with case study images.

Parcel deliveries to housing developments and apartment buildings - staying one step ahead of competition
As a nation we love to shop, but how we buy goods and services is changing beyond recognition. We’ve become a nation of online shoppers. The high street delivers to us. Within the next ten years the number of parcels we’ll send and receive is forecast to double to six billion each year; the number of vans needed to deliver them likely to top a quarter of a million. Building owners, managers and property developers must take into account that parcel deliveries are now a fact of life and that – major health crises notwithstanding – most home dwellers cannot always be present when they arrive. This presentation offers several practical solutions to this issue – from stylish mail and parcel box combinations for single dwellings, to intelligent parcel delivery systems that send an email or text message when a package arrives – and explains how resolving the problems of clutter, heat loss, mail theft and fire safety are just some of the many benefits they provide.

Secured by Design TS009: 2019 Mailboxes - Designing Out Crime
This CPD examines the TS009: 2019 standard and explains why Secured by Design, the Door and Hardware Federation and ACPO recommend mailboxes over letter flaps generally, and TS009-compliant mailboxes over other types of mailbox specifically. Mail and parcel boxes are an increasingly popular choice among cost-conscious developers, too. This presentation explains why, as well as addressing what a TS009-compliant mailbox looks like, the independent testing process it must undergo to be certified, and when and where it should then be specified. Details of other standards with which mailboxes must comply are also covered, together with general advice on other measures that specifiers and developers can take to improve doorstep security.

Fire rated mailboxes - building a safer future
This video is intended to equip the specifier, architect, interior designer or contractor with sufficient information to judge when, where and how to specify fire rated mailboxes. It covers: the circumstances in which a fire rated mailbox becomes a requirement; the different standards that apply to fire rating, and what each means; how mailboxes are tested for compliance with these standards, including some eye-opening details of the testing process itself; common compliance issues, and why the presence of fire rated components alone may still not satisfy the fire officer; and, how to design a fire rated mailbox system using modular units.
