Includes an explanation of the different kinds of gas fire, including conventional flue models that are connected to standard UK chimneys, and balanced flue models, which require no chimney. This presentation also deals with built-in and freestanding models and offers a guide to installation options, including the networking of gas fires across multiple rooms in apartment buildings.

DRU Fires was founded in 1754 and distributes its products to over 20 countries. It claims to have first developed the balanced flue system, which is used for gas boilers, fires, heaters and other appliances worldwide. Its recent innovations include a power-assisted flue system that enables gas fires to be installed in multiple locations, and a gas fire control app for smartphones and tablets.

Petersen is a magazine about interesting architectural projects that use brick, and about the various technical developments within the process of making and building with bricks.

Petersen Tegl, founded in 1791, has been run by the same family since. The brickworks exports to the USA, Japan, Russia, Australia and many European countries.

Petersen Tegl produces the 100% handcrafted Kolumba and Petersen Cover, and is one of the few brickworks in the world to have mastered the art of firing bricks using coal as fuel.
