RIBA CPD Showcase

Latest CPD

Here are the latest CPD materials to have been assessed and approved by the RIBA. These include both new and recently-revised CPD materials.
This interactive presentation covers the environmental and health benefits of natural light, the different glass types and their uses, what makes a good rooflight (in terms of performance characteristics), testing and certifications, and glass fragility and loadings. In short, it provides the specifier with the tools and confidence necessary to specify rooflights and roof glazing quickly and efficiently.

Vision AGI is inspired by its belief in creative thinking and engineering excellence. Its high specification, fully tested rooflights are modern and elegant, while remaining competitively priced.

Vision AGI values its customers' requirements and prides itself on excellent customer service, from enquiry to delivery and beyond.

An overview of the history and application of access flooring systems, this seminar provides guidance on specification, finishes and the practicalities of installing and using a raised access floor. By highlighting the many features and benefits of access floors, participants are provided with all the information needed to specify a floor to suit varying requirements.

Kingspan Access Floors is a world-leader in the access flooring sector, offering an unprecedented 25-year total system warranty. Kingspan has supplied and installed access flooring for a wide variety of applications, including general office, data centres, retail and education. It has a proud tradition that dates back to 1903, and has delivered projects in some of the most prestigious buildings around the World.

Seminar, by T-T
This seminar looks at the differences between private and adoptable pumping stations. It details the issues to be considered when specifying a pumping station in a range of different developments, and includes information about their function, design, installation, operation and maintenance processes.

T-T is a leading supplier of everything needed to master water management challenges. It specialises, not only in off-the-shelf pumps, valves and controls, but also in bespoke pumping solutions, specialist valves and custom-made control panels for your specific application. To complement its products, T-T operates a dedicated service division covering the whole of the UK, to ensure your products run efficiently and economically.

This seminar provides an overview of thermal bridging, discussing the reasons why it occurs as well as how it can be prevented. It also compares building details with and without thermal break solutions, to highlight the importance of determining accurate values of thermal transmittance.

Thermal bridging is a significant factor in building energy loss. By reducing heat flow through the thermal envelope, we reduce energy consumption, as well as prevent potential condensation issues. Building codes now require building enclosures to have ‘continuous insulation’ without thermal bridging. Thermal breaks dramatically reduce heat loss in wall assemblies, transitions and structural connections. They can minimize building energy loss and improve envelope performance.

Armatherm has been proven – through three-dimensional modelling – to reduce heat loss in wall assemblies, transitions and structural connections throughout the building envelope.

Armatherm solutions can be used anywhere a penetration or transition exists in the building envelope, creating a thermal bridge. Applications include balcony, canopy, parapet, masonry shelf angle, cladding/Z-girt connections and wall-to-foundation transitions. Improvements in the effective U value of wall assemblies can be as much as 70%.

Armadillo Noise & Vibration is a collaborative, design-build partner that can assist in determining the extent of thermal bridging heat loss on building envelope performance, including thermal modelling and connection design calculations.
