RIBA CPD Showcase

The secure building

When it comes to the buildings we use, having a sense of ‘security’ becomes about more than just protection against intruders. Personal security extends to wellbeing, fire protection and the ease with which we can live in and navigate the spaces we occupy. The following CPD materials therefore embrace that subject fully. Most seminars are now available online, but this is not always shown here so, if a seminar is of interest, do click on the link and check.
Seminar, by Velfac Windows
A seminar about windows – specifically their design, detailing, installation, and how they interface with commonly-used construction methods and build-ups. Discusses how build sequence can affect the design, installation and sealing methodologies used, and how manufacturers can assist from early stage guidance and support through to the provision of full interface details for successful installation.

VELFAC is the windows expert. It can provide tailored advice and consultancy at every stage in the specification process – from initial design ideas to post-installation support. Talk to VELFAC as soon as your project starts to take shape, and use its product knowledge and industry expertise to specify glazing that matches your budget, design vision and performance targets. VELFAC composite windows bring together the best of both worlds: the durability and versatility of aluminium and the beauty and warmth of natural wood. Wood frames contribute to greater energy performance (with U-values as low as 0.8W/m²K) while slim 54mm sightlines maximise natural light. Opening and fixed lights have the same sightlines, providing a consistent aesthetic across window units.
