Paints, varnishes, protective treatments

The following CPD materials have been assessed and approved by the RIBA.
This seminar is designed to help architects and specifiers understand the need for fire protection around structural steel, the different methods of achieving that goal, how intumescent coatings work, how their thickness is calculated and how they have developed across the years. The presentation includes case study examples.

International Paint is part of Akzo Nobel Group, one of the largest paint and coatings manufacturers in the world, with brands such as Dulux and Interpon. For over 35 years International Paint's products have provided anti-corrosive and aesthetic fire protection for steel structures in markets including infrastructure, power, oil and gas, chemical, mining and bridges.

By explaining and demonstrating the manufacturing, application and testing processes, this seminar shows architects both how to identify high quality architectural powder coatings and how to specify them. Research and development, guarantees and product ranges are also discussed, to provide a general understanding of the subject.

The Syntha Pulvin range of architectural powder coatings is formulated to decorate and protect architectural metalwork exposed to extreme weather and ultraviolet conditions. Available in a wide range of colours and applied exclusively by Valspar's Approved Applicator network, Syntha Pulvin offers guaranteed performance for up to 40 years.
