The building envelope

Our theme this month focusses on the ‘bubble’ that surrounds us as we live, play and work indoors. As the physical boundary between the conditioned and unconditioned environment of a building, the building envelope must keep its users safe and well, while also addressing the practicalities of day-to-day living. Many of the manufacturers and service providers featured here are industry leaders in providing that protection. Many seminars are now available online. This is not always shown here so, if a seminar is of interest to you, do click on the link and check.
A brief introduction to external rendering and developments within the render industry. Includes guidance on relevant standards, including BS 5262 and the more recent BS EN 998-1 and BS EN 13914-1.

Kilwaughter Minerals Ltd has been an established quarry and mineral processor since 1939. In the late 1980s the company began to focus on the design and manufacture of renders using calcium carbonate lime quarried on site. The render is marketed under the K Rend brand name and has since transformed the company from a small, family-run business into a market leading supplier to the UK and Irish construction industries.

K Rend is one of the only render products in the UK and Ireland to have been awarded the prestigious Kitemark license to BS EN 998:2003.
