Seminar, by Cantifix Ltd
Starting with a short history of glass and its place in architecture, this seminar focusses on how recent advances in the manufacture, engineering and understanding of glass have extended its use as a construction material in a very practical way. Many project examples are featured, together with sufficient detail to help the specifier understand the parameters that need to be considered when designing with glass.

Cantifix was founded in 1986 and is a pioneer of ‘architectural glazing’. Today it remains a market leader and constant innovator of products and services. Uniquely, all design, engineering, manufacturing and installation is done by people directly employed by Cantifix.

We all see adverts for new cars that quote carbon emissions and fuel efficiency figures, and are similarly aware of the recent emissions scandal surrounding a major car manufacturer and its diesel engines. Disparities such as this, on any scale, point to a performance gap.

There is an increasing body of evidence that our built environment suffers a similar problem. Various studies examining differences between the energy efficiency of buildings ‘as designed’ and the actual ‘as-built’ performance have shown that, in extreme cases, heat losses from both domestic and non-domestic buildings are as much as three times greater than anticipated.

This seminar discusses effective ways in which to reduce that performance gap.

Driven by a culture of innovation, technical competence and flair, Recticel Insulation is dedicated to raising the quality standard of insulation products in the UK. Based at a state-of-the-art facility in Stoke-on-Trent, Recticel Insulation is part of a Belgium-based international group of companies: one of the world’s largest producers of PIR products.
