A flooring designer needs to be aware of the following to achieve ‘inclusive design’: risk of slipping, how to comply with the Equality Act, colour contrast and light reflective values, flooring for the dementia environment, and how to maintain a hygienic floor – especially in schools and hospitals.

This seminar covers accessibility in new residential buildings, focusing on the 2015 Volume 1 of Part M Building Regulations. The aim of the seminar is to explain bathroom layouts in detail to help facilitate planning of new residential bathrooms and cloakrooms. There is a particular focus on explaining the relationship between products and wheelchair access zones. At the end of the seminar specifiers will understand the requirements, why they are in place, and what to do or who to ask when planning residential bathrooms.
