Core Curriculum: Access for all

One of ten RIBA Core Curriculum subjects, ‘Access for all: universal or inclusive design’ has proven a consistent source of practical – and often highly useful – information and insight for the architect. The gap between what able-bodied designers perceive as inclusive design and what those with disabilities recognise as such is thankfully closing rapidly – thanks in part to CPD materials such as those presented here.
Seminar, by Armitage Shanks
This seminar focuses on Part M of the Building Regulations as it relates to wheelchair accessible washrooms and bathrooms in commercial and residential buildings. In particular, it demonstrates how the choice of product and room design is impacted by the regulations, as well as providing a practical understanding of ‘best practice’.
