Firestop Health check - 10 Lifesaving questions to ask about your firestop
The Hackitt report has called for a seamless Golden Thread of Fire Safety Information to be cascaded from specifiers down to building maintenance teams. Manufacturers have been tasked to be more transparent with respect to their verified products’ fire resistance. This CPD focusses on the key differences between BS476 Part 20 tested against CE Marked firestop products; based on a CE Marked firestop product. It gives listeners a basic tool kit of ten questions to ask themselves to establish if the fire seal they have does actually ‘do what it says on the tin.’ By the end of the CPD you should have a greater understanding of:
- The need for specifiers to take a closer look at claims made in manufacturer's publications and do their due diligence
- The differences between products fire tested to an ad-hoc fire standard versus firestop products to a holistic product standard
- The differences in fire test standards
- Holistic performance essential characteristics that have been identified by ETAG 026:Part 2 for service penetration seals
- 10 key questions to from a basic tool kit/tick list to assess if an installed product is actually fit for purpose
- CE Marked Firestop - Third party verified cradle to death chain of custody to ensure that the product that was tested is the product that is sold in the market
- Where to find the information to confirm whether the installed seal to be used is approved or not
- Key information which needs to be cascaded from the specifier to the built environment to provide the 'Golden Thread'
