Understanding the Reaction to Fire of Partition Surfaces

The classification of wall linings for reaction to fire is widely misunderstood when taking finishes and using them in specific applications. manufacturers of finishes, be they fabrics, veneers, high pressure laminates or glass, often fail to put the classification of their products and their own fire test evidence in the proper context for specifiers and there is a considerable risk that finishes will be specified without appropriate supporting evidence.
This targeted CPD will guide specifiers through this complex issue and give confidence in accurate and compliant specification.

This CPD will cover:

1. An overview of what the regulatory guidance requires for reaction to fire.
2. An explanation of how the required Euro classifications are developed.
3. A guide to how the testing is carried out.
4. A look at other forms of testing which may incorrectly be used to justify the specification of a finish.
5. A cautionary guide to understanding why manufacturers claims may not be accurate in the context of the end-use.

By the end of this CPD delegates ought to:

1. Know what form of classification to look for in specifying a finish for a wall lining.

Specifying Fully Glazed Fire Doors & Partitions

Specifying glazed fire doors and screens is only part of the process. Understanding the limitations of these systems in respect of the fields of application of their fire test evidence is crucial. This targeted CPD will guide designers through the complex issues and give confidence in accurate and compliant specification.

This CPD aims to provide:
1. An explanation of the different forms of fire resistance.
2. An illustration of the fire resisting capability of steel framed glazing systems and doors.
3. A guide to the forms of evidence that establish the fields of application of that fire resisting capability.
4. An explanation of the limitations imposed by that evidence including the limitations of the supporting constructions
5. A guide to the smoke resistance capabilities of glazed systems

By the end of this seminar you should:
1. Know the difference between the forms of fire resistance and the importance of specifying it correctly.
2. Understand the extents of fire resistance of glazed systems.
3. Be able to request the correct forms of evidence at the earliest stage of the design process.
