Factory Visit
Tour of PortalMill Furniture Factory Designed by Grimshaw Architects
This is a tour of Herman Miller’s UK manufacturing and assembly site in Melksham Wiltshire. The tour lasts about one hour and tour groups will be limited to 5 or 6 participants. The tour will include the following:
- An overview and brief history of Herman Miller and the importance of PortalMill to the business
- An overview of the history of the site, building design options for PortalMill and involvement of Sir Nicholas Grimshaw
- An overview of the environmental approach to buildings and challenges for PortalMill
- An introduction to the manufacturing and operations side of the business

The Ergonomics Hub
The Ergonomics Hub from Herman Miller offers you free online ergonomics training that can be completed at your own pace, any time, any place. The first module available is an ‘Introduction to Ergonomics’, which includes information on how to set up a workstation correctly, providing a step-by-step guide on how to adjust the desk, chair and computer screen, in line with current UK legislation. The site will be updated with new modules throughout the year.
