The following CPD materials all fall within the ‘Designing and building it – structural design, construction, technology and engineering’ RIBA Core Curriculum topic area.
The first of three videos, based on the RIBA work stages, aimed at providing you with the information you need to build with timber in a way that suits you. In this short introductory video Andrew Waugh, designer of the world’s tallest all-timber residential building, examines the kinds of projects best suited to timber construction and showcases a whole range of different building types, from housing to superstores. You’ll learn about speed of construction, building and environmental performance, light foundations, low waste, low disruption and the living environment.
Swedish Wood is the promotional arm of the Swedish Forest Industries Federation (Skogsindustrierna), the largest suppliers of high quality, slow growth, sustainable redwood and whitewood to the UK market. Swedish Wood supports a number of marketing initiatives in the UK, including Wood Campus, the timber industry's free online information and learning portal. The series 'Timber – the Building Material of the Future' is available via Wood Campus in a fully navigable form, complete with case studies and specification sheets, and will be available on iPad from the New Year.
